Description
Tarn Cottages are superbly located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, next to the tiny White Moss Tarn, on the bridleway between Grasmere and Rydal Mount. The cottage is in a peaceful, secluded location accessible by car, with a parking space.
It is surrounded by woodland at the rear, with the south facing front enjoying beautiful views of Loughrigg Fell and Rydal Water. A large part of the garden belongs to the cottage, and this is shared by mutual agreement with the other two cottages. Although secluded, the cottage is not isolated, being only a few minutes drive to the centre of Grasmere. The cottage makes an ideal base for walkers, even without using the car it is possible to set out on a variety of long walks and easy strolls. The fells to the rear lead up to the Fairfield range of mountains, while the Loughrigg and Rydal areas provide gentle and beautiful countryside. Wordsworth's home, 'Dove Cottage' is only a few minutes walk down the lane. White Moss tarn, adjacent to the cottage, was reputably used for skating by the Wordsworth family.

The cottage offers 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedded room, 1 Z-bed, bathroom with shower, sitting room, well equipped kitchen. Electricity charged by meter reading at the end of stay.
PETS
We allow dogs in all of our cottages subject to our usual conditions – guaranteed house clean, confined to the ground floor and not allowed on the furniture. We make a charge of £10 for a dog.
Bookings, deposits and balance due dates:
If the cottage is booked less than six weeks ahead the full balance will be due to Cottages Direct at the time of booking. If the cottage is booked more than six weeks ahead, the booker will be required to pay Cottages Direct commission of 10% of the tariff price plus VAT by credit or debit card. This will be deducted from the tariff price.
A deposit payment of one third of the net tariff price (after deduction of the 10% + VAT commission) will then be required by the cottage owners before a booking is confirmed. The balance will be due one month before the start of a stay. |

Grasmere is a popular village with tourists in the midst of the Lake District in Cumbria, England. Taking its name from the nearby lake, Grasmere is located within a few miles of Windermere, Outgate, Ambleside, and Troutbeck and is one of over a hundred towns and villages in Cumbria in which Go2 has cottages or holidays lets available. The nearest official cities are Carlisle (population 71,773), Lancaster (population 45,952), and Liverpool (which has a population of 469,017 according to the 2001 Census).
